Easyship: US Supreme Court rules IEEPA tariffs unlawful; Section 122 surcharge starts

Easyship reported on 26 February 2026 that the US Supreme Court held IEEPA does not give the president authority to impose broad tariffs. IEEPA duties ended at 12:00 a.m. EST on 24 February and a 10% Section 122 global surcharge began one minute later, for a maximum of 150 days. An increase to 15% had been announced but was not yet in force.

The suspension of duty-free treatment for low-value shipments continues, so small parcels into the US are still assessed duties. Section 232 and 301 tariffs remain in effect.
