Easyship: Strait of Hormuz crisis and what it means for small business shippers

Easyship described the Strait of Hormuz as effectively closed, with more than 147 container ships trapped in the Persian Gulf. Vessels rerouting around Africa add 10 to 14 days of transit, major carriers have restricted or halted bookings, and freight surcharges are appearing on key lanes.

Electronics, batteries, plastics, rubber goods and petrochemical-derived products are most exposed, and port congestion typically follows two to five weeks after a diversion.
